2007: Appeared in five matches as a redshirt freshman ... played in five games ... had one kill each against Wright State (8/25), Drake (9/22) and Indiana State (11/3).
2006: Redshirted.
High School: Was a four-sport standout at Cedar Falls High School ... earned letters in volleyball, track, soccer and basketball ... volleyball first team all-stater as both a junior and senior ... co-captain of her team as a senior ... team advanced to state semifinals in both 2004 and 2005, with a combined record of 61-23 ... holds seven CFHS season records, including kills (344), kill average (2.94), blocks (106), and service aces (0.68 per game) ... in track, was a member of the state champion 4x200 relay team in 2006, running state meet record in the process ... also qualified for state in the 4x100 relay, distance medley relay and spring medley relay ... selected to Cedar Falls High School Hall of Fame for her track performances.
Personal: Daughter of Rex and Laurie Karsten ... father is a professor in the department of management at UNI ... majoring in communications/electronic media ... chose UNI because of the coaching staff, combination of athletics and academics, and the family environment ... enjoys reading, listening to music and video editing in her spare time ... born August 8, 1988 in Cheyenne, Wyo. |
